Twitter & Facebook are great ways of communicating with people across the world in a quick and easy format. Why not register with each of these free methods and getting posting to us with your comments and queries re NEXT GENERATION BROADBAND.
Firstly go to http://twitter.com

If you haven't already signed up, click Sign Up Now

Type your full name, the username and password of the twitter account you want to setup. Please note that this doesn't have to be your name but can just be something you wish to be known by. You will also need to type in your email address, confirmation of the unique words that the website requests and also confirmation that you accept their terms of service. Once you have completed all the fields click “Create My Account”. You should then receive an email from Twitter, confirming your account and requesting to click on a link in the email to validate it. Click the link and then you can login to twitter with the details you registered with by clicking “Sign in” in the top right hand corner.
You will be taken to a screen like in the one below.

From here you can post updates with up to 140 characters in them and communicate with people around the world. If you would like to post your own updates then type in your update in the “What's happening?” box. A couple of interesting pointers when you are posting messages. If you want to retweet a message from someone else to all of your followers simply, simply hover over the message that you want to retweet and click “retweet”.
Also if you want to tag a word in one of your tweets so it makes it easier for the wider world to pick up your update by a certain topic, then simply use the # symbol before the word and this word will automatically be “tagged”. For example if you wanted to tag the word “NextGenBroadband” then simply type in #NextGenBroadband into your update. This will enable people in the wider world to find all tweets with the word NextGenBroadband in them and start to build an army of tweets in one topic.
If you would like to search for people to start following then click “Find People” in the top menu. Type in your search term you want to search for (i.e. a name, or a business) You will then be taken to a page like the one below.

From here, all you need to do is click the “Follow”
button and you will then receive all updates from this user.
To put this in a real life example – Do you want to post about Next Generation Broadband? Find Suffolk Online, follow us and then post a message about Next Generation Broadband and this will appear in our Twitter. If possible, why not add the tag “NextGenBroadband” into your tweet. Once you have tweeted, if you are posing a question then we will do our best to answer it. Alternatively, if you don't want to publish it across the world – just Direct Message us by finding us and clicking the
button and then send a direct message to us.
Firstly go to http://www.facebook.com

Firstly you will need to register, if you haven't already. Simply type in the relevant details into this first page and then click “Sign Up”. Following this, you will receive an email from Facebook confirming your registration. You will most probably be given instructions to click on a link in the email, do this and your account should be activated. Once activated you will then be able to sign in using the login section on the top of this page.
Once logged in you will see your Facebook page like below.
From here you can post updates by using the “What's on your mind?” box. In facebook you have no message limits so can post anything as short as you want.
If you want to find somebody, simply type in the name in the top search box (i.e. Suffolk Online) and then either wait for it to pick up something and in which case you can click on the item you are looking for, or alternatively click the search button. If you do this you will get taken to a page like the one below.

To find the person you are looking for, click the name and then from here you can become a fan of someone or request their friendship by clicking the “Become a fan” or “Add as friend” buttons. When you are a fan of something or friends with someone you can then look out for their updates from the main news feed page which we showed you in point 3 or alternatively go to your Profile page by clicking on “Profile” along the top and looking in your pages or friends section.
To put this into a real life example - Do you want to post about Next Generation Broadband? Find Suffolk Online, go to their Facebook page, look at their wall and post an entry onto it by clicking on the “comment” button on the relevant post you want to post about. Following this, if the point needs answering we will do our best to answer your query.
